Apospasmation.. Un fragment de Denys d'halicarnasse sur la prise de Bola (414 av.J.-C.)

Abstract : A very short fragment of Dionysius of Halicarnassus, which comes in selections provided in two manuscripts of Ambrosian Library, has been since its first edition by Angelo Mai connected with the Book XII of Roman Archeology. It seems to mention a mortally wounded man. This paper analyzes the characteristics of Ambrosian selections and the likely chronological context of this episode by confronting the fragment with other sources preserved over this period, especially Livy. We suggest identifying Dionysius’ fragment as referring to the stoning of the consular tribune M. Postumius Regillensis by his troops just after the fall of Bola in 414 B.C.
