The Motives of Francophilia: History of a Frustration

Abstract : In Spain, as in other European countries, the World War imposed an implacable court. It was the time when Fernando de los Ríos demonstrated the impossibility pf makin a parliamentary monarchy work, when the monarch, politically irresponsible, did not respect the Constitution. However, the war impsed the advance of statism and was not, as expected, a development that was favorable to the democratization of the exercice of power.
