Nouvelles observations stratigraphiques et tectoniques sur le massif de la Salette (Bouches-du-Rhône, SE France) : un exemple de tectonique polyphasée au sein du système des chevauchements provençaux.

Abstract : Abstract. La Salette massif, located northeast of Marseille, constitutes a narrow and elongated east-west trending orographic unit, culminating to 240m high, and linked east ward to the Allauch massif. It is transgressively covered on all its borders by oligocene or quaternary formations. New mapping, carried out for revision of the third edition Aubagne-Marseille geological map at the 1.50.000 scale, resulted in precisions on the stratigraphy of the Triassic and Jurassic formations. Moreover, a volcaniclastic serie has been discovered and ascribed to the lower Keuper. From a structural point of view, the La Salette massif is formed by an upper jurassic autochtonous basement overthrusted by an allochtonous triassic-hettangian unit. Lower cretaceous parautochtonous thrust slices are tectonically interbedded between both these main tectonic units. The Oligocene (Rupelian) folded and faulted lacustrine formation unconformably rests on the allochtonous unit and post-date its tectonic emplacement. The link of the la Salette massif with the neighbouring southern Allauch allochtonous unit and the different steps of its tectogenetic evolution are analyzed.
