Résistances et alternatives rurales à la mondialisation

Abstract : Initiated by campaigns with forces involved in urban struggles, active opposition to liberal globalization is articulated on two distinct but complementary analyses. In the south of France, we observe the development of “new ruralities” experienced as a reappropriation of the means of livelihood (practices of self-sufficiency, networking of groups). Internationally, a mobilization of “peasants” lends force to antiglobalization demonstrations, whether local, national or international, whether in France or Brazil. The aim of this analysis of actions and actors is to understand the worldwide convergence of “rural struggles” toward an internationalization of demands that, borne by rural areas, favor activities centered around making a living rather than business.
