Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis
Abstract
Current multimedia technologies call for eecient ways of repp resenting signals. We review several eecient methods for signal represenn tation, emphasizing potential applications in signal compression and denoiss ing. We pay special attention to the representations which are adapted to non-stationaryy features of signals, in particular the classes of bilinear repp resentations, and their approximations using time-frequency atoms (mainly wavelet transforms and Gabor transforms).
