G. Expression, General procedure: Cells were lysed and tissue samples were homogenised in RLT buffer (Quiagen) Total RNA was isolated with Quiagen RNA extraction kits following the manufacturer's instructions. For real-time PCR analysis, the isolated RNA was reverse transcribed (Eurogentec) For PCR reactions, TaqMan Mastermix (Eurogentec) was used. 50 ng cDNA was used as template to determine the relative amount of mRNA by real-time PCR (BioRad Detection System). PCR conditions were as follows: 95 °C for 10 min followed by 40 cycles of 95 °C for 15 s and 60 °C for 1 min. Data were normalised to 16S mRNA levels.
