Les marques obligatoires du nom et l'état d'annexion en berbère

Résumé

This contribution examines the morphological and syntactic genesis of the initial marks of the Berber noun: marks of gender, of number and especially of state (Free / Bound State). This initial marking of the noun is specific to Berber, unlike the final marks which all have Afro-Asian correspondents. It reviews the different theories proposed by the Berber specialists (Vycichl, Prasse ...), by examining their strengths and the unresolved issues they raise. Consensus is reached on the secondary character of the formation of these initial marks, starting from the trans-functionalization and agglutination on the nominal theme of initially separate and optional morphems, of deictic and / or pronominal origin. The identification of these morphems, and especially their syntactic status and the process of freezing, are still debated. S. Chaker defends a particular thesis, based on the asymmetry of marks between masculine and feminine, and between North Berber and Tuareg, which leads him to consider that the phenomenon of postulated freezing is more complex than is generally admitted and that it supposes several successive phases, with successive agglutination of distinct marks. This examination is the occasion of a critical reflection on the conditions and limits of the grammatical reconstruction in context of orality: the absence (or the scarcity) of the ancient testimonies on the Berber language make very delicate (and very debated) any diachronic reconstruction, especially for the syntactic and semantic detail of the processes.
