Professionnalisation des doctorants : influence des formations « complémentaires » sur le développement des compétences et le positionnement professionnel

Abstract : This paper addresses the impact of a generic skills training programme designed for doctoral candidates, as perceived by the beneficiaries. Our inquiry is based on eight interviews with doctorate holders, who are all fully employed and holding different types of positions. Our data shows that the programme is perceived of great value by the interviewees in that it helps access various positions directly or indirectly linked to research, it supports developing skills that they first use during their doctoral research and then later in their jobs, and, finally, it contributes to developing self-evaluation and provides insights regarding potential jobs and sectors where they can make full use of their research education.
