“Les paratextes de l’édition des élégiaques latins de 1487, Venetiis, Bonettus Locatelli et Octavianus Scotus”

Abstract : The edition of the Latin elegiac poets (Venetiis, Bonettus Locatelli et Octavianus Scotus, 1491) whose the Mejanes Library of Aix-en-Provence keeps a copy (Inc. Q. 49), brings together the comments of Bernard of Verona on Tibullus, of Anthonio Parthenio Lachesis on Catullus and of Filippo Beroaldo Senior on Propertius. It presents not any paratext written by the printers, but a rich and varied collection of paratexts due to the commentators, who consider themselves a full- fledged authors, and to their sodalitas. This article, after making an inventory of these texts by pointing out those already mentioned in the previous philological literature, analyzes the paratexts of commentators-authors with particular attention to discursive strategies to influence the very act of reading.
