Abstract : What role can emotions play in the learning of a musical instrument in the “Orchestra at School” system? If there is an important literature on the relationship between emotions and the perception of music, there is little empirical work on this relationship in instrumental learning. We postulate that emotions can be considered a psychological instrument because they are the product of cultural and social development, and that they can also be understood as a cognitive tool because they amplify the subject's activity, and that they reorganize it by modifying it. This article proposes a reflection based on a research done on a "school orchestra" type device that engages an entire educational community (pupils, teachers, parents) and their professional and social environment. It aims to understand and explain how the emotions that subjects feel in instrumental learning lead them to engage or re-engage in school work.
