This article addresses the problem of female otherness in Maeterlinck’s early plays, through the concepts of Strangeness and Strangerness. An interdisciplinary reading, at the crossroads of literature and psychoanalysis, reveals the connection between the phenomena of the Strange with the Stranger and the Known. The Feminin as Other raises the questions of the crisis of the subject fin-de-siècle, as well as Death as the theatrical character, influencing the space of dialogue. Strange and Stranger Woman in the First Plays by Maurice Maeterlinck RÉSUMÉ Cet article aborde le problème de l'altérité du féminin dans le premier théâtre de Maeterlinck à l'aide des concepts de l'étrangeté et de l'étrangèreté. Une lecture interdisciplinaire, à la croisée de la littérature et la psychanalyse, permet de retracer les liens du phénomène de l'étrange avec l'étranger et le connu. Le féminin en tant qu'Autre soulève les questions de la crise du sujet finde-siècle et de la mort en tant que personnage théâtral, influençant l'espace du dialogue.
