Recherche de nouveaux principes actifs issus des espèces du genre Eryngium de l’Ouest Algérien

Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is a better knowledge and appreciation of the floristic wealth of western Algeria, which remains, nowadays, largely unknown. These works are an initiation to investment projects in the field of PPAM based on scientific results developed in specialized laboratories whose reputation is a guarantee of reliability.The study concerns a chemical characterization and an evaluation of the biological activities of the secondary metabolites of the volatile fraction of three species of Eryngium (Umbelliferae family) (E. triquetrum, E. campestre, E. tricuspidatum subsp. mauritanim) growing spontaneously in western Algeria. As described in the title, the purpose is researching for new extractable, which means new molecules that can be active against pathologies.The use of chromatographic techniques (GC-DIF, GC-MS, flash chromatography) has led to a better understanding of the essential oils of the Eryngium species, some of which are described for the first time. It provided important information on the variation of the chemical composition in volatile constituents of the plant during the vegetative cycle and according to its geographical location.These works were also the opportunity to conduct structural investigations (MS, IR, 1D and 2D NMR) which led to the identification of a new molecule called “Campestrolide” in the essential oil of E. campestre. These volatile fractions were the subject of a biological evaluation which showed certain reactivity against various tested agents. In particular, the essential oils of E. triquetrum and E. campestre demonstrated remarkable potency in antimicrobial test, for which essential oil of E. campestre showed a very good activity against Staphylococcus, Bacillus and Enterococcus strains responsible for nosocomial infections. While, the best antioxidant activity was obtained by the essential oil of E. triquetrum.
