L'origine chrétienne de la Constitution américaine? un débat politico-juridique issu du conservatisme

Abstract : What are the conservative arguments stating that the American Constitution has a Christian background? In this article, I explain the recent history of this ideological debate, lasting for 40 years, on the true intents of the Founding Fathers, and how the conservative interpretation of it was rebuilt by some eminents scholars, often from Catholic background. The second part of this article is focused on the Ten Commandements cases before the Supreme Court, as a good exemple of how the conservative vision of the Constitution, the legal order, the American justice encountered the public opinion of the country
