Formations éoliennes et phases arides quaternaires dans le Bas-Sahara algéro-tunisien

Abstract : In the Lower-Sahara, four sand seas took place since the Pliocene : one during the final Pliocene, two fossil sand seas with well preserved features : the Upper Pleistocene gypcrete sand sea and the el Oussif sand sea (probably dating from the Lower Holocene), then the present-day Great Eastern Erg. They were built up by winds blowing in the same sens as the predominant efficient present-day winds during dryer climatic periods than the actual one.
