Apparition et évolution de roubines à Draix

Abstract : The appearance of badlands was studied using the profile of the channels caused by runoff. During Upper Pleistocene, alluvial fans and terraces merge with the Bouinenc and Bléone rivers terraces. During Late Glacial and Lower Holocene, channels and depressions were cut down and they have very gentle slopes. In the Laval watershed, the depression is a paleovalley whose longitudinal slope is 1% less that the present one. Then these depressions have been filled up by colluvial accumulations that fossilize some Pinus vertical stumps radiocarbone dated 8 860 +/- 70 B.P., 8 010 +/- 80 B.P. and 7 950 +/- 160 B.P. The V-shaped gullies appeared during historical period, probably during Modern Period. They coincide with the maximum extent of the cultivated and grazed area during Modern Period and with the Little Ice Age too.
