Migrations et nation. Le cas italien

Abstract : Which migration is Italy today the product of? How has mobility shaped both "long-term" Italian society and identity? To these simple questions, the answers are not obvious, if only because they invite to continue the investigation in several directions: that of the history of migration, of course, but also that of the long territorial fragmentation of an Italian peninsula late (and fragile) "unified" from the 1860s, or that of the balance of power - economic, social and political - which determine what "to make nation" means to such-and-such period and in this or that configuration.
