The work of Georges Bohas has shown the motivated and regular correlation of sound and meaning within the linguistic sign, on the one hand, by highlighting that at the submorphological level, by analyzing the very components of morphemes in terms of features, the relationship between the linguistic sign and its referent is revealed, on the other hand, by explaining that the alleged arbitrariness of the linguistic sign is only an illusion due to the fact that the Saussurean tradition situates itself within the framework of the morpheme and thus of the phoneme, instead of taking into account the features that constitute these phonemes and that are the source points of the meaning Following Alvaro Rocchetti and Maurice Toussaint, our own work on the motivation of consonants and vowels in Italian has led us to consider the sensory-motor link that accompanies the articulation of the potential phoneme as inherent to the motivation of the sign and to the submorphology of the phonological systems of languages. This paper will present the uses of the anterior trio /a/ vs. /e/ vs. /i/ in Italian for: 1) Gender and number in nominal inflections; 2) The suffixes -ano, -ino; 3) The prepositions a, di, del, da; 4) The adverbs of place related to demonstratives qui, qua, lì, là; 5) The thematic vowels in verbal inflections; 6) The subject person in verbal inflections; 7) The forms of auxiliaries it. avere and essere. In this way we will argue our hypothesis of a spatial referent mouth space and show the motivated and regular correspondence between the features and the primary signifiers specific to the three vowels /a/, /e/, /i/, in the Italian system.
Les travaux de Georges Bohas ont montré la corrélation motivée et régulière du son et du sens au sein du signe linguistique, d’une part, en mettant en évidence qu’au niveau submorphologique, en analysant en traits les composants mêmes des morphèmes, on fait apparaître la relation entre le signe linguistique et son référent, d’autre part, en expliquant que le prétendu arbitraire du signe linguistique n’est qu’une illusion due au fait que la tradition saussurienne se situe dans le cadre du morphème et donc du phonème, au lieu de prendre en compte les traits qui constituent ces phonèmes et qui sont les points sources de la signification. À la suite d’Alvaro Rocchetti et de Maurice Toussaint, nos propres travaux sur la motivation des consonnes et des voyelles en italien, nous ont conduite à considérer le lien sensori-moteur qui accompagne l’articulation du phonème en puissance est inhérent à la motivation du signe et à la submorphologie des systèmes phonologiques des langues. Cet article présentera les emplois du trio antérieur /a/ vs. /e/ vs. /i/ en italien pour : 1) Genre et le nombre dans les désinences nominales ; 2) Les suffixes -ano, -ino ; 3) Les prépositions a, di, del, da ; 4) Les adverbes de lieu afférents aux démonstratifs qui, qua, lì, là ; 5) Les voyelles thématiques dans les désinences verbales ; 6) La personne sujet dans les désinences verbales ; 7) Les formes des auxiliaires it. avere et essere. Nous argumenterons ainsi notre hypothèse d’un espace buccal référent spatial et montrerons la correspondance motivée et régulière entre les traits et les signifiés premiers spécifiques aux trois voyelles /a/, /e/, /i/, dans le système italien.
